Few players embodied the spirt and history of the Chicago Bears franchise more than Hall of Fame linebacker Dick Butkus.

Butkus began his path to becoming part of Chicago sports folklore at Chicago Vocational High School before moving on the University of Illinois.  The Bears were able to draft both Butkus and running back Gayle Sayers in the 1965 NFL draft.

No middle linebacker was feared more than Butkus when he played.  His style of play is a far cry from the NFL product we see today.

Butkus turned 73 on Wednesday and we’d like to wish the living legend a very happy birthday!
