We have seen various reports over the past few days about teams making deals with the Vegas Golden Knights ahead of the expansion draft.
The Chicago Blackhawks are one of those teams as there has been speculation that they will trade center Marcus Kruger to the Golden Knights as long as they agree to select Trevor van Riemsdyk with their pick of the Hawks roster, or vice versa.
According to Pierre Lebrun of TSN, the NHL is making sure none of these deals are officially announced until the day of the expansion draft on June 21.
Lebrun is reporting that all 31 general manager across the league had a conference call with deputy commissioner Bill Daly to have one last discussion about the expansion draft. During this call Daly stressed that the league does not want any general manager to leak any trades made with the Golden Knights before the start of the draft.
and part of the message from the NHL to GMs was to make sure NOT to leak any trades made with Vegas to media ahead of big June 21 reveal...— Pierre LeBrun (@PierreVLeBrun) June 14, 2017
