Stan Bowman has had quite a few phone conversations with Carolina Hurricanes general manager Ron Francis over the past couple of years.  Bowman has traded players like Kris Versteeg, Joakim Nordstrom, Bryan Bickell, Teuvo Teravainen and Scott Darling since 2015 Stanley Cup win.

The Hurricanes also acquired a pair of former Blackhawks in Marcus Kruger and Trevor van Riemsdyk via trades facilitated with the Vegas Golden Knights.  One report says that one of those two players could be coming back to Chicago before the start of the season.

According to John Jaeckel of Hockey Buzz, rumors have Carlonia being a destination for Marian Hossa’s contract and that Bowman may try to re-acquire van Riemsdyk in said trade.

“All this is not terribly surprising—Vegas has been pretty active in dealing players it selected in expansion. But my interest was piqued when I heard a rumor about 6 days ago—building on an earlier rumor I reported that Carolina might become the destination for Marian Hossa's contract—that Bowman hoped to perhaps expand the deal enough to gain an asset back from Carolina.

Namely, van Riemsdyk.”

Jaeckel says the Blackawks are probably not “done” during the offseason. Do you agree with him?
