While we saw a facelift in the Chicago Blackhawks top six this offseason with the Panarin-Saad swap, the defense has also gone through a facelift.

The team currently has five NHL defenseman which includes Brent Seabrook, Duncan Keith, Connor Murphy, Michal Kempny, Michal Rozsival.

The Hawks will need to add some defensive help, and hopefully they can do that once the Marian Hossa cap hit is figured out.

According to 670 The Score's Jay Zawaski, the Hawks already have somebody in mind.

Zawaski reports the Hawks would be interested in inviting Cody Franson on a professional tryout offer if he doesn't get signed in the next month.

Franson stands at 6'5" and weighs in at 224lbs, he's also a right handed shot who's pretty good at driving play and pushing the puck.

The 29 year old has 205 points in 527 games which includes 76 career powerplay points.

The Hawks could role the dice with Ville Pokka or Jan Rutta, but with the disappointment coming from last season, general manager Stan Bowman could lean towards an NHL experienced player like Franson.
