Chicago Blackhawks forward Nick Schmaltz has been in the headlines during the teams first week action, some good reasons, some bad.
The good, Schmaltz has clearly proven he can help put points on the board and play alongside Patrick Kane. He even drew huge praise from Kane earlier this week when Kane compared Schmaltz speed and skating to that of Connor McDavid.
Unfortunately though for Schmaltz, if he wants to get anywhere close to McDavid type numbers, he'll have to actually play some full games. The Hawks forward has had some bad luck injury wise and even though he has yet to miss a game, he has yet to finish one as well.
Not missing games? That's about to change this week though as coach Joel Quenneville announced last night that Schmaltz will likely miss some games this week, won't make the road trip, but could possibly return on Thursday.
He took a really hard hit against Columbus, and even though he shook it off and played another shift, he would return to the locker room and not come back.
