The Chicago Blackhawks raised some questions on Tuesday night in Montreal.
Head coach Joel Quenneville made defenseman Connor Murphy a healthy scratch so the team could insert veteran Cody Franson into the lineup which they had signed to a contract after he played through a PTO in the pre season.
While Quenneville might have been forced to make a decision he really didn't want to by scratching Murphy, general manager Stan Bowman might be forced to make one soon himself.
With defenseman Jordan Oesterle yet to play a game, there's a high chance the defenseman could be placed on waivers by the team. The decision would be a risky one for the Bowman and the team as Oesterle would have to clear waivers to be able to join Rockford in the AHL.
According to Mark Lazerus, the team still likes him and want him on the roster, but everybody agrees the 25 year old needs to play, and that might not be the case at the moment in Chicago with all their defenseman healthy.
Do you think he would clear waivers?
Jordan Oesterle likely headed for Rockford. Blackhawks still like him, but they don't want him just sitting around. They want him playing.— Mark Lazerus (@MarkLazerus) October 12, 2017
Quenneville is aware Oesterle needs to play at some point. I'm not sure if the Hawks risk putting him on waivers to send him to the AHL.— Scott Powers (@ByScottPowers) October 12, 2017
