After taking three of four possible points in Toronto and Montreal the Blackhawks are back home for their first Central Division contest of the year.

Nick Schmaltz will miss his third straight game after being injured on his first shift versus the Columbus Blue Jackets last Saturday.  He told reporters, while sporting a shiner, that he is feeling better and is eyeing Saturday’s game versus the Nashville Predators to return.

Since the Blackhawks are not carrying an extra forward, the lines will be exactly as we saw during the road trip.

Connor Murphy will be back in the lineup after being a healthy scratch in Montreal.  Gustav Forsling will play tonight despite sporting 15 stitches from taking a puck to the mouth late in Tuesday’s win over the Canadiens.  Cody Franson will head back to the press box for tonight’s game.

The Blackhawks are catching the Wild at the right time as both Zach Praise (back) and Mikael Granlund (groin) will miss tonight’s game.  The duo combined for 45 goals and 111 points last season.

Minnesota has given up four goals in each of their first two games on the season.  Devan Dubnyk will look to rebound after a 5-4 shootout loss to Scott Darling and the Carolina Hurricanes in his only start of the year.  Dubnyk is 10-7-0 with a .909 save percentage and 3.06 goals-against average in 20 career games versus the Blackhawks.
