A big reason for the Chicago Blackhawks early season struggles has been the lack of production from some of their top stars. Things are starting to trend in the right direction as players like Patrick Kane, Brandon Saad and Jonathan Toews are finding the back of the net again.
After scoring twice on Wednesday night in Tampa Bay, Kane added his ninth goal of the season last night against the Panthers. In even better news, Saad and Toews combined for two goals and three assists in the 4-1 win.
Toews only had one goal in his last eight games and got a lucky break last night against his old buddy Roberto Luongo.
“It’s funny how much it changes. You go in every game trying to forget, maybe not that you’re necessarily snakebitten, but you feel like the pucks aren’t going in even though you’re creating chances, Toews said after the game, per Chris Hine of the Chicago Tribune. “You try and create that feeling and then you get lucky. ... It’s a whole different thing when you get a bounce.”
Getting the top players back on the score sheet will go a very long way in stacking up some wins.
