The Chicago Blackhawks and general manager Stan Bowman announced a trade late on Monday.
The team has acquired defenseman Calvin de Haan and forward Aleksi Saarela for goaltender Anton Forsberg and defenseman Gustav Forsling.
Bowman continues the overhaul of the team's defense and the team is now stacked on the left side with the addition of de Haan and Olli Maatta earlier this month.
Saarela is a 22 year old forward who set career-highs in goals (30), assists (24) and points (54) in 69 regular-season games with Charlotte in the AHL and helped lead them to the AHL's Calder Cup.
Forsberg was pushed out of the back up position by Collin Delia and Forsling was a restricted free agent who we guess Bowman had no plan on re-signing.
De Haan tallied 13 assists in 74 regular-season games with the Hurricanes last season. He also helped Carolina to the Eastern Conference Finals, notching one goal in 12 Stanley Cup Playoff games. https://t.co/lRW4k1C6HQ
