In some very surprising news, the Chicago Blackhawks have placed goaltender Corey Crawford on injured reserve.
In a corresponding move, the team has recalled Jean-Francois Berube from the Rockford IceHogs.
According to league rules, Crawford will miss at least seven days meaning the combination of Anton Forsberg will take on the Dallas Stars, Los Angeles Kings and Washington Capitals.
There has been no official word on the injury or how long Crawford will be out of action. There is no doubt that Crawford is one of the biggest keys to the team’s success. He is 11-7-2, with a 2.29 goals-against average, a .930 save percentage and two shutouts this season.
We will keep you updated as more detail emerge.
