The last couple of years have been tough on many and that includes one former Chicago Blackhawk.
Forward Zack Smith has announced his retirement after 12 season in the NHL.
Smith spent the majority of his career with the Ottawa Senators but played his final season of his career with the Blackhawks during the 2019-20 season.
The 33 year old registered 4 goals and 7 assists in 50 games during his brief stint with the Hawks.
Smith says that the extreme back pain he's been dealing with the last couple of years is just too much to handle and has decided to hang up his skates.
After 12 seasons in the NHL, Zack Smith has decided to retire. He opened up to me about his magical 25-goal season with the Sens, his love for the city of Ottawa — and the extreme back pain he’s been dealing with for a couple of years. A class act. https://t.co/YXlwdqu1Dj
