Really tough blow for the Rockford IceHogs on Monday.

While the team was struggling a bit for the AHL season was put on pause, they were still fighting for a playoff spot.

Rockford was tied with the Chicago Wolves for the final playoff spot in the Central Division.

However now it's officially over.

The AHL officially canceled their season on Monday morning because of the coronavirus.

"The AHL Board of Governors has voted to cancel the remainder of the 2019-20 AHL regular season and the 2020 Calder Cup Playoffs due to the ongoing COVID-19 public health crisis."

This will likely help the NHL and their chances of continuing the season as it will make more players available to finish the 2019-20 season.
