While awards season is still a couple of months away, writers for teams across the league have made their selection for one of the most respected awards among players.

Nominees for the Bill Masterton Trophy have been made official.

"The Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy is awarded annually to the NHL player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to ice hockey."

The Chicago chapter of hockey writers have chosen Corey Crawford as the Blackhawks' Bill Masterton Trophy nominee.

It's well deserved for Crawford who dealt with some very scary concussion issues this season, so bad that some even wondered if Crawford would ever play hockey again.

Crawford battled back and helped the Blackhawks get back into the playoff picture and currently holds a 2.91 goals against average and .909 save percentage.
