He was supposed to be a center the Chicago Blackhawks could build around and showed potential during his rookie season.

2019 3rd overall pick, Kirby Dach, registered 23 points in 64 games during his rookie year however has been kind of quiet since.

So far this year he's got 13 points in 30 games which includes 5 goals and seems to be getting better tutoring from Derek King than he ever got from Jeremy Colliton.

We've seen King take time out during practices to talk to the youngster and the Blackhawks' interim head coach told media what he thinks Dach needs to improve on to get to the next level.

“It’s a young kid,” King recently said. “Like I always say, the Forrest Gump, he wants to do everything and help this team. He’s a competitor. He competes. I think the biggest thing with our conversation was just playing without the puck. I mean, he’s good when he has the puck. It’s getting the puck back or when he doesn’t have the puck is when he has to work on. Listen, he’s going to be in this organization for a while hopefully because he’s a good hockey player, but he’s got to learn how to play without that puck. Might as well do it now, not wait until your later 20s to do it.”

What do you think of King's comments?
