The Chicago Blackhawks head into Ottawa on Thursday night and get first crack at the Senators without Karlsson.

The Blackhawks aren't fully loaded either as they're still without goaltender Corey Crawford who they're hoping will be back October 18th.

The injury bug continues for the Blackhawks as backup goalie Anton Forsberg was injured at practice and the Hawks were forced to make an emergency call up for Collin Delia from the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL.

With low expectations on the Blackhawks' season the team is enjoying the idea of taking on the role of underdogs.

"A role we can definitely embrace is being the underdogs and a team that nobody maybe takes seriously or is given the respect that we think we deserve." said captain Jonathan Toews.

Toews will be looking to get his season off on the right foot as he'll start the game between Alex DeBrincat and Dominik Kahun.

The Senators have made some big changes from last year getting rid of captain Erik Karlsson and one of their top goal scorers in Mike Hoffman.

Cam Ward gets the start for the Blackhawks while Craig Anderson gets the start for the Senators.
