If the Chicago Blackhawks continue to be on the bubble and find themselves out of the playoffs near the trade deadline, the Hawks' will likely be sellers.
Last year general manager Stan Bowman decided to move Ryan Hartman at the deadline which surprised lots of fans, however Bowman landed a first round pick in return.
Jimmy Greenfield of the Chicago Tribune believes we'll likely see the same situation happen this year with Nick Schmaltz.
Schmaltz is in the final year of his entry level contract and only has two goals after scoring 21 last season, at this point in time it's hard for the Hawks' to justify a big raise.
While Greenfield feels it'll be harder for Bowman to let go of Schmaltz considering his potential, it's something that wouldn't be surprising if it happened.
"If the Hawks are out of the playoff picture Schmaltz could be their most valuable trade chip.”
Would you be surprised if Schmaltz is moved at the deadline?
