Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Sharp tried to keep it a secret, but after last night's game it's obvious, Patrick Sharp is retiring.
The forward had his parents fly in for the game, he played on the top line, started the game and wore his old "A" on his jersey.
During the third period the Blackhawks played a "Thank You, Sharpy" tribute video and Sharp received a very loud and long standing ovation, and Sharp did a solo lap at the end of the game saluting the crowd and city he loved so much.
“It was a tough game out there, tough to concentrate with what was going on inside my head,” Sharp said according to Mark Lazerus. “But thankful that I was able to do that. .?.?. The guys staying out on the ice and making me do a lap was something I’ll always remember. It was a special night.”
Sharp was asked directly if it was the end “Yeah, probably... I’m grateful I had the opportunity to come back to the Blackhawks"
