When the Chicago Blackhawks traded popular forward Artemi Panarin, many wondered how they would replace his offense, and they simply haven't.
While some were happy to see Panarin's questionable defense gone, the return of Brandon Saad did almost absolutely nothing last year.
Now with Panarin on the trade block and only one year left on his contract, he could be one year away from returning to Chicago.
According to Scott Powers of The Athletic, a source has told him that Panarin would seriously consider a return to Chicago if he becomes UFA next summer.
While Saad could easily bounce back and have a productive 2018-19 season, Panarin hasn't lost a step at all registering 82 points last year for Columbus and helped lead them into the playoffs.
Panarin has one more season left on a deal which brings a $6million cap hit, if he hits the open market next season, he'll have plenty of teams interested in his services.
