The Chicago Blackhawks are pretty much set to start their 2020-21 season except for one piece of business.
The Dylan Strome contract.
Strome, a restricted free agent, remains unsigned by the Blackhawks and it doesn't sound like the 23 year old will be getting that contract unless he gives into general manager Stan Bowman's offer.
We don't know what that offer is but Bowman appeared on the Blackhawks Talk Podcast and spoke on the negotiations.
When asked if it was a tense negotiation that has turned sour, he was straight forward with his answer.
"I wouldn't say it's a contentious situation. It's just a part of the business. We have to do what's best for us in the short term and the long term and be cognizant of where the market's heading."
Considering the recent injuries to both Jonathan Toews and Kirby Dach, it gives Strome some leverage for the short term but it clearly sounds like he's looking for a long term deal.
What do you think of Bowman's comments?
