Chicago Blackhawks fans had their fingers crossed as they were hoping for a NHL Lottery Draft miracle last weekend.
Unfortunately that miracle never happened and the Hawks finished with #8 pick in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft.
The team has two picks in the first round of the NHL Entry Draft and they got really really close to landing the first overall pick in the draft which would have landed them Rasmus Dahlin.
The lottery draft is selected by ping pong balls and the Hawks ball was about to win the #1 pick before it was knocked out of the way at the last second.
Check out the photo below, the Hawks #11 ball was headed towards glory but was knocked out of the way by the #6 ball.
It would have been the Hawks first #1 pick since they picked Patrick Kane #1 overall in 2007.
.@JeremyWGR @hsimon62 @Schopptalk @Bulldogwgr I took some time see what other team was closest to winning the lottery. Ball 11 was in prime position, but somehow 6 zoomed up and miraculously knocked 11 to the right. Had 11 gone up instead, Chicago would be drafting Dahlin. pic.twitter.com/e1h2TmGcJH
